Environmental Policy

Responsibilities

Faced with climate change and other environmental threats, STATUS IT has devised a programme to monitor, implement, control and reduce the impact of its operations on the environment.

The business is committed to managing its environmental responsibilities and is fully compliant with UK, Republic of Ireland and EU regulations where applicable.

STATUS IT assesses and effectively manages the environmental impacts of its daily operations, reacting to any negative impact the business may be having on the environment with immediate effect and where possible reversing such impact.

The company exercises product stewardship in conjunction with its suppliers, in its approach to environmental protection. It calls on those in the product lifecycle especially manufacturers and suppliers to share responsibility for reducing the environmental impact of products.

STATUS IT recognises that their suppliers and product manufacturers can and must take on new responsibilities to reduce the environmental footprint of their products and will work with such organisations that take on and prove such responsibilities.

STATUS IT also manages its product range to ensure that products do not cause unacceptable environmental damage through their receipt, storage, and use or disposal phases.

The business regularly communicates its environmental policy to all business stakeholders – shareholders, employees, customers and suppliers through various electronic communication mediums.

A STATUS IT operating Board Director has overall responsibility for the company environmental policy. This Board Director constantly liaises with experienced Environmental teams within our suppliers to ensure continuous improvement.

A representative at STATUS IT overlooks and monitors the day to day control of the environmental policy ensuring business: -

awareness of environmental issues and legislation
identification of polluting activities, aspects and impacts there of
knowledge of STATUS IT control systems to all staff
It is the policy of STATUS IT to ensure that its activities are managed so as to minimise any impact on the environment, so far as is reasonably practicable.

In order to achieve this:

The Company will aim to improve the energy efficiency of its premises, existing buildings will be adapted where practicable to improve their energy efficiency. When considering future purchases or leases, account will be taken of the energy efficiency of the building and of the energy costs involved in running those buildings.
Wherever possible the Company will seek to minimise waste: Through reduction in unnecessary consumption, through purchasing recycled products and packaging for its own use. By sending used products and packaging to be recycled through reuse of packaging received.
Employees at new sites will be encouraged to travel to work using environmentally friendly methods such as car sharing or use of public transport where practical.
STATUS IT also runs a customer toner recycling programme where empty toners are collected from the customers premises and fully recycled. Each toner collected raises money for BLISS - the premature babies charity.

Finally: STATUS IT have invested in an “Eco-Friendly” Office Supplies Catalogue, focusing only on Fairtrade Endorsed and Recycled Products. The catalogue shows the recycled content of each item listed and encourages an informed, responsible purchase by our clients.

If you have any further questions about our environmental credentials or can offer suggestions to help us improve our environmental policy, please feel free to email us: environment@statusplc.co.uk.
